FIDSON Healthcare PLC Undertakes a Business Mission to the United Republic of Tanzania.

The High Commission coordinated and facilitated the trade mission of FIDSON Healthcare PLC to Tanzania from 21st - 25th April 2024. While in Tanzania, FIDSON held strategic meetings with TIC, TMDA, MSD, and other important actors in the pharmaceutical sector. FIDSON is planning to invest in Tanzania in the near future.

THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF ZANZIBAR AND UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA CONCLUDES MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR KISWAHILI TEACHING

On 8th June, 2023, the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) and University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding which incorporates among other things the teaching of Kiswahili language. The symbolic virtual signing of the document was facilitated by the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H. E. Amb. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana.  The MoU is expected to deliver among other things, the introduction of Kiswahili to the UNIABUJA program curriculum, development of joint research activities; exchange of staff and students and other forms of collaboration.  Professor Moh'd Makame Haji, Vice Chancellor of SUZA and Professor Abdul Rasheed Na'Allah, Vice Chancellor of UNIABUJA represented their institutions at the event, alongside other senior Professors and management staff of both institutions.

East African Community Ambassadors' Group Regular Meeting - 6th June, 2023

On 6th May 2023, the High Commissioner, Amb. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, participated in a regular meeting of the East African Community Ambassadors' Group. The group brings together Heads of Mission accredited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria with Residence in Abuja. The group consists Ambassadors and High Commissioners from Burundi, DR- Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

On 3/6/2023, Kiswahili instructors volunteers, consisting of staff at the Chancery, their spouses and the Tanzanian Diaspora were awarded the Certificates of Attendance on successful completion of a weeklong training of trainers program facilitated by Mr. Arnold Msofe (BAKITA).

On the 3rd May 2023 at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, received the first-ever state-of-the-art cargo plane, Boeing 767-300F. The aircraft will enable the country’s products access international markets, driving forward Tanzania’s economic diplomacy strategy.

Dr. Benson Alfred Bana received Mr. Aliyu Shinkafi Shehu, Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after the  Discussions centered on matters of mutual interest to the United Republic of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana received Mr. Aliyu Shinkafi Shehu, Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after the  Discussions centered on matters of mutual interest to the United Republic of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Tanzania appeals for Africa's support in bagging IPU presidency

Ng’wasi Kamani (MP) of Tanzania CCM Party made an appeal for the support of the candidature of Rt. Hon. Dr. Tulia Ackson (Speaker of Parliament) as President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The appeal was made to the Pan-African Parliament during the adoption of committee report on gender, family, youth and people living with disabilities. She stated that Tanzania is the only country on the continent with the rear privilege of having women simultaneously head successfully, the executive and legislative arms of government. This proofs that given the chance women can succeed just as well as their male counterparts. Her appeal was supported by other Members of Parliament, Senator Margaret Kamar (Kenyan) and Mrs Maimuna Ceesay (Gambian). Tanzania’s Boeing 767-300f Cargo Plane is ready for its Maiden Trip to Tanzania.

On 1st June 2023, the Boeing Company handed over a Boeing 767-300F cargo plane to the Tanzania Government Aircraft Agency (TGFA). The event took place at the Boeing's plant in Seattle, USA, and was attended by the Ambassador of Tanzania to the United States H. E. Elsie Sia Kanza; Chief Executive of ATCL Engineer Ladislaus Matindi and Acting Chief Executive of TGFA Capt. William Budodi. H. E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania will receive the new state-of-the-art aircraft on 03/06/2023 at the Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The first in Africa freighter, will be operated by Air Tanzania Corporation Ltd (ATCL) and will boost cargo services on the continent.

The Kiswahili Training of Trainers (TOT) Program Is Underway in Abuja-Nigeria

On 31 May 2023, the High Commission received Mr. Anord Ayange Msofe from Tanzania National Swahili Council, BAKITA, Mr. Msofe has been deployed by BAKITA to the Tanzania High Commission in Abuja to facilitate Training of Trainers (TOT) program for earmarked Kiswahili instructors, consisting of staff and their spouses as well as the Tanzania Diaspora volunteers. The training will last for seven days.

Air Tanzania Cargo set to conquer the skies, linking Africa to the rest of the World.

The new addition to the fleet of Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) is set to bring improvement to the business environment across Africa and Tanzania in particular. The AfCFTA agenda receives a new boost by this development.
