Tanzania and Cote d’Ivoire signed a Memorandum of Understanding for establishing cooperation in the field of sports. The signing ceremony was held in Dar es Salaam on 21st April 2024 during the visit to Tanzania by Hon. Adje Silas, Minister of Sport of Cote d’Ivoire. Hon. Silas and his delegation were in Tanzania for an official visit from 18-22 April 2024.

On Thursday, 30th March. 2023, H. E. Yonas Yosef Sanbe, Ambassador of Ethiopia to Nigeria payed a courtesy visit to the Tanzania High Commissioner, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana. The diplomats had discussions on matters of mutual diplomatic interests, including the state of politics in the Horn of Africa and the East African region.

The partnership between Tanzania and United States of America dates back to the 1960s and is rooted in cooperation across different sectors including: economic, development, health, and security cooperation. The visit of the Vice President of the United States to Tanzania aims to among other things, advance bilateral relations through cooperation on commercial engagement, digital connectivity, investing in women and youth, fostering democratic values, food security, marine conservation, and health. Through such cooperation, the US plans to provide $560 million in bilateral assistance in fiscal year (FY) 2024 for Tanzania. Air Tanzania Cargo Flight Changing the Cargo Aviation Landscape in Africa

Air Tanzania is blazing the trail again, the airline is scheduled to take delivery of its first freighter and become the first production 767-300F operator in Africa. The brand-new unit 67788 was seen on 19th March, 2023, conducting its first test flight from Boeing’s factory at Paine Field (PAE). The Boeing 767 is an American wide-body aircraft developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Mr. Aliyu Ahmed, Permanent Secretary and Mr. Mwendesha Makelemo Mkandya On 22nd March 2023, the delegation of the Technical Team from the Tanzania Government, Mr. Mwendesha Makelemo Mkandya and Mr. Michael Athumani Luzigha conducted a study visit to Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The delegation was received by Mr. Aliyu Ahmed, Permanent Secretary and Officials of the Ministry. The visit was coordinated by Tanzania High Commission, Abuja.

Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and all Tanzanians in commemorating the passing on (17/03/2021) of Dr. John Pombe Magufuli (RIP), the 5th President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The late President will be remembered for his outstanding transformational leadership, patriotism and pro-people vision and policies. We will continue to honour his legacy.  May his soul continue to rest in eternal peace.

The Presentation of Letters of Credence Ceremony in Bamako, Mali

On 16th March 2023, H. E. Amb. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana presented his Letters of Credence to H. E. Colonel Assimi Goita, President of the Transition, Head of State of the Republic of Mali at the Palais de Koulouba (State House), Bamako city.

University of Dar es Salaam and University of Ibadan signed a Memorandum of Understanding for teaching of Kiswahili language.

  On 15th March, 2023, the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and University of Ibadan (UI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the teaching of Kiswahili language. The symbolic virtual signing of the document was facilitated by the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana.   The MoU is expected to deliver among other things, the introduction of Kiswahili to the University program curriculum, development of joint research activities; exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students; exchange of staff on sabbatical basis; mutual assistance in the establishment of new programmes; exchange of information and publications; and organisation of seminars, colloquia, symposia, conferences and workshops.   The Vice-Chancellors of both UI and UDSM applauds the collaboration, given that both institution are the oldest and leading public universities in Nigeria and Tanzania, respectively.
