On 29th November, 2022, Tanzania High Commission coordinated a bilateral meeting between Economic Processing Zone Authority, Tanzania, led by its Director General, Mr. Charles J. Itembe, and Managing Director/Chief Executive of Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Nigeria, Sen Tijjan Y. Kaura. The two Directors exchanged experiences on matters of mutual interest to their organizations, setting the stage for a structured bilateral cooperation between the two organization.

The TBC Team lead by    Dr. Ayub Rioba Chacha, Director General The Management of Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation and the Voice of Nigeria led by the Director Generals met virtually over zoom to chat the way forward, towards executing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed between the two institutions on 21st September, 2021. The meeting set out actionable clauses within the MoU and mapped out possible timelines. The High Commission was on ground facilitating the meeting, through its team, led by the Head of Chancery, Mrs. Judica E. Nagunwa.

All 45 envoys representing Tanzania in different parts of the world will from 14th -21st November, 2022 meet with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency, Samia Suluhu Hassan. The meeting aims to promote economic diplomacy, a strategic approach under the 6th phase government.

Once more, the Tanzania High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria, applauds, in advance, the decision of Air Tanzania management, particularly Eng. Ladislaus Matindi, Managing Director and Chief Executive, for their resolve to consider, initially, introducing direct flights from Dar es Salaam into Lagos, West Africa as shown in the Inflight Magazine, Issue 15, October-December. 2022. The High Commission can’t wait receiving the maiden flight in Lagos at an appropriate time. The new route will catalyze Tanzania’s economic diplomacy strategy and, consequently, take Tanzania and Nigeria bilateral ties to greater heights.

His Excellency, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana facilitated a 32-Man Business Mission (G31 Led by the MD of Impacto Nigeria Limited) from Nigeria to the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Dar es Salaam, today, 3rd November, 2022. The Mission is made up of Nigerian businessmen at home and in Diaspora, who are exploring opportunities to invest in Tanzania. The G31 team has interest that cuts across real estate, oil and gas, commerce, marine and offshore services, maritime services, engineering/construction, logistics, hospitality and medical services. The Team was received at TIC by Ms. Latiffa Kigoda, Senior Investment Officer.

The High Commission is Building Regional Collaboration Through the Private Sector

Facilitating private sector collaborations is critical to the mandate of the High Commission to increase tourism traffic from Nigeria to Tanzania. On the sidelines of the 18th Akwaaba African Travel Market, held on 31st  October to 1st November, 2022, the Tanzania High Commission, Abuja organized a B2B between Tanzania Tour Operators and Nigeria Tour Operators (on the platform of NATOP). We foresee the budding of new partnership to advance and promote Tanzania tourist destinations.
