FIDSON Healthcare PLC Undertakes a Business Mission to the United Republic of Tanzania.

The High Commission coordinated and facilitated the trade mission of FIDSON Healthcare PLC to Tanzania from 21st - 25th April 2024. While in Tanzania, FIDSON held strategic meetings with TIC, TMDA, MSD, and other important actors in the pharmaceutical sector. FIDSON is planning to invest in Tanzania in the near future.

On  27th October, 2022, Tanzania High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, welcomed Tanzania U-23 AFCON football team and its leaders to Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The team is in Ibadan for a second round return leg U-23 AFCON qualifier, scheduled for Saturday 29th October 2022.

H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana Explores Opportunities for Increasing Technical Aid from Nigeria to Tanzania Through The Directorate of Technical Aids Corps (DTAC)

On 26th October, 2022, H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana met with representatives of the Directorate of Technical Aids Corps (DTAC). The meeting was aimed to appreciate DTAC’s activities in Zanzibar, explore the possibility of expanding its collaboration with Zanzibar and extending its support to Mainland Tanzania. DTAC currently has 14 corps members volunteering as science teachers in secondary schools in Zanzibar. Pre-COVID-19 it had 41 Volunteers in Zanzibar. DTAC is a parastatal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mandated to execute the Technical Aids Corps Scheme which is an expression of the Foreign Policy of Federal Republic of Nigeria. According to Nigeria’s First Prime Minister (1960-1966), Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, “Africa is the centerpiece of Nigeria’s foreign policy.” DTAC focuses on Nigeria's Foreign Aid Technical Assistance Policy and executes its mandate in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific states.

On 25th October, 2022, H. E. Dr. Benson A. Bana met with Amb. Rabiu Dagari, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA) to chart out new frontiers for collaboration between the Directorate and the Tanzania Mission in Abuja for the furtherance of Tanzania-Nigeria bilateral ties. DTCA is an agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with the mandate to enhance Africa’s development by creating an enabling environment and opportunity for Africa's professionals to invest their immense intellect, expertise and skills in the economies of Africa; and bridge the widening economic and scientific gap between the continent and the rest of the world.

The countdown is on, to the Premiering of the movie starring Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania as the number 1 Tour Guide, in “Tanzania: The Royal Tour”. It is scheduled for Monday, 31st October, 2022 at the 18th Akwaaba Africa Travel Event happening at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos – Nigeria. The event will be a platform to launch the Tour Tanzania Campaign in West Africa with the movie premier creating an avenue for a virtual familiarization tour (Virtual Fam Tour) for high end tourism and hospitality professionals, showcasing some of the unique tourism attractions of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Tanzanians in Diaspora Quarterly Meeting

  On 23rd October 2022, the Tanzania High Commission held its quarterly Diaspora Meeting. The meeting was both virtual and physical. Among other things, the meeting deliberated and agreed on the Constitution to establish and govern affairs of Tanzanians in Diaspora within the West African Countries to which the High Commission of United Republic of Tanzania in Abuja is accredited.

H. E. Amb. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, Was Special Guest at the 50th AGM of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN)

On Tuesday 18th October, 2022,  Amb. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Nigeria was special guest at the 50th AGM of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Lagos. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON, President and CEO Dangote Industries Ltd, delivered a lecture on ”Agenda Setting for Industrializing Nigeria in the Next Decade.” The High Commissioner seized the opportunity to invite captains of industries in Nigeria and West African countries to invest in Tanzania, illuminating opportunities and incentives provided by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.

ZANZIBAR RANKED BEST BEACH DESTINATION IN AFRICA

On 15th October, 2022, Zanzibar Island was named Africa's leading beach destination by the World Travel Awards (WTA), for the 2nd year running! It topped the WTA 2022 rankings, beating some of Africa's best, including Cape Town, South Africa; Diani, Kenya and Dakhla, Morocco.

Tanzania's Serengeti National Park has again been named Africa's leading National Park by the World Travel Awards. The park has held this position since 2019, for 4years straight. Other nominees: Kruger National Park - South Africa, Masai Mara National Reserve - Kenya, Kalahari Games Reserves - Botswana and, Kidepo National Park - Uganda.

October 14 is a special day for the United Republic of Tanzania, it is a day set aside for the commemoration of the life of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Father of the Nation. He was the first Prime Minister of independent Tanganyika (1961) and first President of the United Republic of Tanzania. A Pan-Africanist per excellence, anti-colonial activist, politician, and political theorist. (13 April, 1922 - 14 October, 1999)

Tanzania to Welcome More East African Tourist as Citizens of EAC Are to Now Pay Same Park Fees As Tanzanians

Tanzanian authorities have lowered park fees for East African citizens to attract more tourists from neighbouring countries. Adult EAC citizens visiting wildlife parks, historical sites and the likes will now pay Tsh10,000 ($ 4.2), the same fee charged adult Tanzanians. This is in line with the EAC terms. Furthermore, Dr Pindi Chana (MP), the Honourable Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, said the Tanzanian government will also focus on meetings and conference visitors through exhibitions, conferences and other tours.

The highest green building in the world to find its home in Zanzibar, Tanzania! A 28-storey apartment tower designed in hybrid timber technology, dubbed "Burj (Tower) Zanzibar" or "Vertical Green Village," the spectacular high-rise is designed to reach 96 metres in height. The structure will be a global environmental milestone, being the first timber structure of such proportion, world over. Designed to be for mixed-use, incorporating residences and commercial spaces, in a playful beehive style with breathtaking ocean views. The National Honours Award was established by the National Honours Act No. 5 of 1964.
