The High Commission Receives in Audience the New DG of Voice of Nigeria

On 16/04/2024, the High Commission was honoured to receive the delegation from Voice of Nigeria (VON), led by the new Director General, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace. VON is reestablishing its commitment for cooperation, to strengthen existing bilateral relations between Tanzania and Nigeria. Currently, VON is working with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) through an existing MoU facilitated by the Mission, and its staff are receiving Kiswahili training organized by the Mission to help strengthen the VON Kiswahili Service.

Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango, Vice President, of the United Republic of Tanzania and H. E. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had a bilateral meeting in Arusha, Tanzania. The deliberations revolved around several matters related to the Bilateral Relations between the two countries, particularly on the need to establish a Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) which will enhance cooperation in different sectors including tourism, trade, education, science and technology, among others. The Bilateral relations between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Nigeria dates back to the liberation struggles of African countries and has continued to be strengthened post colonialism and apartheid era. The Pan-African Club of Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS), paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Nigeria, on 18 th February, 2022. The educational visit is part of their orientation about working in the African Diplomatic Corps. The Pan-African Club is the brain child of Africa Vision 525 Initiative a not-for-profit NGO which trains simulations of the Assembly of the African Union. The Pan-African Club (PAC) has since 2004 held research base simulations of an Assembly of the African Union.  PAC is made up of volunteer student in their final year of secondary school, who by participating in the club are expected to acquire skills for gathering relevant information required for policy formulation and building skills for public speaking and other leadership skills.

Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, High Commissioner presents a plaque of honour to.  Dr. DanAzumi Mohammed Ibrahim  Director General/ CEO of NATOP T he Tanzania High Commission Chancery in Abuja on the 16 th February, 2022, received the Director General/CEO and Senior Management Staff of National Office for Technology Acquisition  and Promotion (NOTAP), Nigeria. The NOTAP Team were on a reciprocal visit to explore further the identified areas of mutual interests for the United Republic of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as pointed to at  previous meetings. This reciprocal visit by the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) , is a step forward in the plans to reinvigorate its relationship with its Tanzania counterpart, the Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), for technological development and advancement of Tanzania and Nigeria.

At the end of his official visit to the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group, traveled to Chato in the northwest of Tanzania, and paid homage to the late Tanzanian President, John Magufuli, who died on 17th March, 2021. Laying a wreath on Magufuli’s grave, Adesina reminisced about how they shared a passion for the accelerated development of Africa. He described the late President as a “dear friend, brother and partner.” “I miss our engaging discussions about Africa. I miss our discussions on your vision for Tanzania. In a very short time, you transformed Tanzania. You were bold. You were determined,” Adesina wrote in the condolences book. “I thank God for your life.
