The High Commission successfully coordinated the visit to Abuja Nigeria by Gen. Jacob John Mkunda, Tanzania’s Chief of Defense Forces, to attend the First African Chiefs of Defence Staff Meeting held from 25 to 27 August 2025 in Abuja. The meeting was under the theme 'Combating Contemporary Threats to Regional Peace and Security in Africa' and attended by 37 Defence Chiefs from African countries.

In the international relations context, it cannot be
denied that sport will always be alongside with politics. Sports
diplomacy has proved to be able to reduce conflict or melt the
tensions between countries in conflict. Sport is an essential
means of diplomacy because of the main nature of sports that
uphold the sportsmanship. Sports can be an instrument and play an important role
in achieving peace between nations and also in the process of
peace-building. However, in the Tanzania-Nigeria context sports becomes a platform for strengthening and improving existing bilateral relations that dates back to the post colonial days. In the international scene both sister countries have over the years shared similar stance on international politics, actions and decisions. Tanzania and Nigeria has been front line states in the struggle for the liberation of African countries and the eradication of apartheid.
On the 19th September, 2021 both countries football teams will meet in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria for a footballer match in CAF Championship League football competition. Representatives of the Tanzania High Commission in Nigeria led by His Excellency Dr Benson Alfred Bana, High Commissioner are on ground in Port Harcourt to cheer the Tanzanian team to victory.

On 28th May 2025, The High Commission in Abuja was honored to welcome Mr Leonard Bernard Mkude (CPA) Accountant General, Ministry of Finance of the United Republic of Tanzania. The Accountant General is in Abuja, for an Official Visit that aims, among other things, to Equip the Mission with tools to Engage Financial Services Stakeholders in the area of accreditation.

On 24th April 2025, the High Commission received Ambassador Maj. Gen. WA Ibuge, Commandant of the Tanzania National Defence College (NDC). The visit of Ambassador Maj. Gen. WA Ibuge and his delegation seeks to further strengthen the excellent existing cooperation between Tanzania and Nigeria National Defence Colleges.
