H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana Finding New Opportunity for Expanding the Existing Bilateral Relationship Between Tanzania and Nigeria, in Technology Development

H. E. Dr Benso Alfred Bana and Mr Philbert B. Peter at the Zoom meeting.
His Excellency, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, has today (20th January, 2022) created an opportunity for expanding the existing bilateral relationship between Tanzania and Nigeria with a focus on collaborations to enhance technology development. The journey began on the 23rd June, 2021 with the visit of the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Nigeria, to the DG of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) of Nigeria, to explore the possibility of reinvigorating the previously existing interest for collaboration between Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) and NOTAP. In June, 2012, staff of the Directorate of Centre for Development and Technology Transfer, led by Dr Dugushilu Mafuwa visited NOTAP from COSTECH, pursuing the mandate of COSTECH to create linkages and network with counterpart institutions in Africa. This visit led to the drafting of an MoU, but actual collaboration was not a reality.
His Excellency has now facilitated the reconnection of the two institutions and created a platform to revitalise the talks between the leadership of both institutions. The signing of an MoU is in the pipeline, hopefully preceded by a working visit by the DG of COSTECH to the DG of NOTAP which will yield deeper levels of mutually beneficial collaboration between both organisations.
