As part of Tanzania's Strategic Investment Drive, a high-level Government delegation  led by Hon Kitila Mkumbo (MP) Minister for Investment and Planning undertook a visit to Lagos, Nigeria, from 5–7 August 2026. A key engagement was a meeting with Dangote Group leadership, led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthen Tanzania–Nigeria economic cooperation. Discussions focused on expanding investment across strategic sectors, advancing industrial development, and identifying new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. This engagement reflects Tanzania's commitment to fostering a conducive investment environment while building strong partnerships that drive sustainable development, regional prosperity, and shared economic success.

H. E. Dr Benson Alfred Bana led a team from the Tanzania High Commission Abuja to visit the Dangote refinery, fertilizer factory and seaport at the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos-Nigeria.

Among other things, the visit was a show of support to the foresight of Alhaji Aliko Dangote to support Africa's self sufficiency efforts through the industrial city, and to invite him to consider expanding his investment portfolio in Tanzania, particularly to fertilizer production.
