Tanzania Strengthens Strategic Investment Partnership with Dangote Group

As part of Tanzania's Strategic Investment Drive, a high-level Government delegation  led by Hon Kitila Mkumbo (MP) Minister for Investment and Planning undertook a visit to Lagos, Nigeria, from 5–7 August 2026. A key engagement was a meeting with Dangote Group leadership, led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthen Tanzania–Nigeria economic cooperation. Discussions focused on expanding investment across strategic sectors, advancing industrial development, and identifying new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. This engagement reflects Tanzania's commitment to fostering a conducive investment environment while building strong partnerships that drive sustainable development, regional prosperity, and shared economic success.

The Opening Ceremony of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP)


On 22nd December, 2022, Her Excellency, President Samia Suluhu Hassan graced the opening ceremony of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) for the water filling, for the envisioned generation of 2,115 megawatts (MW) of electricity. This dam is a dream fulfilled, a dream that dates back to 1961 post independence, expressed clearly by the Father of the nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere. It was initiated by the fifth phase government of late President John Pombe Magufuli.
“The Julius Nyerere Hydropower dam will help in controlling the frequent floods in Rufiji; used in irrigation schemes, open many tourism opportunities in the southern part of the country.
