Tanzania Strengthens Strategic Investment Partnership with Dangote Group

As part of Tanzania's Strategic Investment Drive, a high-level Government delegation  led by Hon Kitila Mkumbo (MP) Minister for Investment and Planning undertook a visit to Lagos, Nigeria, from 5–7 August 2026. A key engagement was a meeting with Dangote Group leadership, led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthen Tanzania–Nigeria economic cooperation. Discussions focused on expanding investment across strategic sectors, advancing industrial development, and identifying new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. This engagement reflects Tanzania's commitment to fostering a conducive investment environment while building strong partnerships that drive sustainable development, regional prosperity, and shared economic success.

H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana Received Frater Merchiory Dominick Mahinini, the Kidnaped Tanzanian Seminarian

On 2nd September 2023 at his Residence, the High Commissioner received Frater Merchiory Dominick Mahinini, the Tanzanian Seminarian who was kidnapped on 02/08/2023 and freed on 23/08/2023 in Niger state, Nigeria. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Otto Katto, a Spiritual Director from the Missionaries of Africa. Frater Merchiory left Abuja to join his family in Kigoma, Tanzania on 03/09/2023. He was seen off at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the High Commissioner.

  Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, a Government agency has granted a Foreign Carrier Operating Permit to Air Tanzania to commerce scheduled flights between Dar es Salaam and Accra. The commencement of direct flights between these two cities will ease connectivity and promote trade, investment and tourism activities.  This step marks another milestone of enhancing relations and cooperation between Tanzania and West Africa region.
