Tanzania Strengthens Strategic Investment Partnership with Dangote Group

As part of Tanzania's Strategic Investment Drive, a high-level Government delegation  led by Hon Kitila Mkumbo (MP) Minister for Investment and Planning undertook a visit to Lagos, Nigeria, from 5–7 August 2026. A key engagement was a meeting with Dangote Group leadership, led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthen Tanzania–Nigeria economic cooperation. Discussions focused on expanding investment across strategic sectors, advancing industrial development, and identifying new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. This engagement reflects Tanzania's commitment to fostering a conducive investment environment while building strong partnerships that drive sustainable development, regional prosperity, and shared economic success.

According to the Association of International Conference and Convention (AICC), Tanzania ranks 5th on the continent behind South Africa, Morocco, Rwanda and Egypt. The Government under the leadership of H. E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has set out strategies to increase Tanzania’s share in the African Conference Business. Thereby, moving its market shares from previous 5% to 10%, with a projection to make Tanzania a top hub for international events in the next 5 years.

One of the strategies employed by Government is to expand international conference facilities to Dodoma, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar. As well as rebranding Tanzania through the “Tanzania: Royal Tour” film which has also contributed immensely to opening up the country to the world.
