The High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania, Abuja-Nigeria

Today, we were privileged to receive the Permanent Secretary, President Office of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (Economy and Investment) Mr. Khamis Suleiman Mwalimu.  The Permanent Secretary and his delegation, which includes Mr. About Hassan Mwinyi, Deputy Permanent Secretary President Office (Finance and Planning), are in  Abuja Nigeria for an official visit at the invitation of the Federal  Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).

 

On 8th August 2024, Judica E. Nagunwa, Charge d'affaires had a discussion with Mr. Antony K. Oyewole, Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head of Zenith Bank, Abuja. The discussion focused on collaboration between the Mission and the Bank, particularly regarding trade facilitation between Tanzania and Nigeria businesses. Zenith Bank is one of the largest banks in Nigeria, with branches/ offices in different countries, including Europe and Asia.

On 31st July 2024, the High Commission was honored to receive Hon. Dr. Mwigulu L. Nchemba (MP), Minister of Finance of Tanzania, and his delegation, which included Dr. Natu El - maamry Mwamba, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Hon. Minister and his delegation were in Abuja Nigeria to attend the World Bank and International Monetary Fund African Caucus 2024, which was held from 1st -3rd August 2024.

On 31st July 2024, Mrs. Judica E. Nagunwa, Chargé d'affaires, paid a courtesy visit to the Director of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja. Chargé d'affaires was accompanied by Brigadier General Julius Kadawi, Defence Attaché of the High Commission. The discussion focused on matters of mutual interest between Tanzania and Nigeria.

On 27 July 2024, Brig. Gen. JK Kadawi, Defence Attaché, attended the Graduation Ceremony of the participants of Course 46 at Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji-Kaduna Nigeria. The graduating officers, included Maj. AY Mbuli and Maj. JM Marwa, senior officers from Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces (JWTZ). The colorful event was graced by H. E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces represented by Gen. Christopher Musa -Chief of Defence Staff Nigeria.

On 25th July 2024, the High Commission was honored to receive senior officials from the Ministry of Finance of the United Republic of Tanzania. These officials were in Abuja Nigeria for bilateral engagements with the Central Bank of Nigeria for the mutual benefit of our two friendly countries.

On 22nd July 2024, Mrs. Judica Nagunwa, Chargé d'affaire a.i received, Hon. Dr. Ashatu K. Kijaji (MP), Minister of State, Vice President Office, Union and Environment in Accra Ghana.  Hon. Minister and her delegation, which includes Ms. Christiana Solomon Mndeme, Deputy Permanent Secretary, and other Senior Officials are in Accra Ghana for official visit.

On 15th July 2024, the High Commission was delighted to receive H.E. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Former President of the United Republic of Tanzania in Accra - Ghana.  H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is in Accra to participate at the Presidential Level Briefing on Foundational  Learning in Africa scheduled on 16th July 2024 during the 2024 Mid Year Coordination Meeting of the African  Union Year of Education. H.E. Jakaya Kikwete is also the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Global Partnership for Education.

Tanzania Broadcasting Cooperation (TBC) and Voice of Nigeria (VON) have signed a Memorandum of  Understanding (MOU) to promote African news perspectives globally.The MOU, among other things, will facilitate collaboration in five key areas, including  content exchange and the promotion of Kiswahili  Language. The signing took place during the visit to Tanzania by VON Director General Mr. Jibrin Baba Ndace.
