We received Mr. Khamis Sulieman, Permanent Secretary President Office of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (Economy and Investment) and his delegation.

Today, we were privileged to receive the Permanent Secretary, President Office of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (Economy and Investment) Mr. Khamis Suleiman Mwalimu.  The Permanent Secretary and his delegation, which includes Mr. About Hassan Mwinyi, Deputy Permanent Secretary President Office (Finance and Planning), are in  Abuja Nigeria for an official visit at the invitation of the Federal  Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).

First Diaspora Meeting for the Year 2022/2023

The Tanzania High Commission, Abuja on 30th July, 2022 hosted Its first Diaspora meeting for the year 2022/2023. Among other things the meeting agreed to create and register "Tanzania Diaspora West African Group." The procedure has started, a drafting committee to prepare necessary guidelines for the group has been set up. Also, the High Commission used the opportunity to update on some other matters such as the process of Diaspora Special Status currently under review, etc.

As the majority focus on technology advancement, economic development and education, little attention is given to the moral, character or behavioural development that drives and will sustain the true African growth and its development that is desired. H is Excellency Dr. Benson Alfred Bana receives the African Union (AU) Youth Ambassador representing Southern Africa, Central Africa and Northern Africa, Led by Diana Paulo Chando a Tanzania and AU Youth Ambassador representing Eastern Africa . The Youth Ambassadors were in Nigeria for a round table discussion regarding Nigerian Action Plan on youth peace and security.   H. E. Dr Benson Alfred Bana receives delegates from the Ikeja Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA). In line with Economic Diplomacy Strategy and AfCFTA, the Mission is linking the private sector in Nigeria with their Tanzania counterparts for trade and business relations. Among other forms of collaboration, a trade Mission is in the horizon.

The Inaugural Celebration of "World Kiswahili Language Day" by the Tanzania High Commission, held on the 14th July, 2022, the celebration was with an Open Dialogue. Panelists were drawn from the Academia in Ghana and Nigeria, the Diplomatic Corps and host Government institutions. Kiswahili is a bantu language and one of the four main African languages that is spoken widely on the African continent, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The language is prominent in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. Several countries in Africa have adopted Kiswahili either as a national language, official language or as a medium of instruction in schools. On 10th February, 2022 the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia approved and adopted Kiswahili as an official working language of the Union and its institutions. Her Excellency Samia Suluhu HASSAN, President of the United Republic of Tanzania was in Dakar, Republic of Senegal to attend the IDA 20 Summit for Africa which held on 7th July, 2022. Madam President was received by H. E. Dr Benson Alfred BANA, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Nigeria with concurrent accreditation to 14 West African Countries, including Senegal.

Amb. Isaac Moses and Amb. Mrs Nneka Isaac-Moses and  Dr. Gladstone Mlay, the Director of Marketing, Tanzania Tourist Board in Dar Es Salaam.  His Excellency, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, facilitated the visit of the CEO and Managing Director of Goge Africa, Amb. Isaac Moses and Amb. Mrs Nneka Isaac-Moses to the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (ZCT) Tanzania Tourist Board and Zanzibar Commission for Tourism. This was a working visit occasioned by their quest for intra-Africa travel, investment and tourism promotion. The Goge Africa duo met with the representative of ZCT on 1st July, 2022. Mr Giuseppe Surace,  Chief Operating Officer,  Dangote Oil Refining Company Limited H. E. Dr Benson Alfred Bana led a team from the Tanzania High Commission Abuja to visit the Dangote refinery, fertilizer factory and seaport at the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos-Nigeria. A mong other things, the visit was a show of support to the foresight of Alhaji Aliko Dangote to support Africa's self sufficiency efforts through the industrial city, and to invite him to consider expanding his investment portfolio in Tanzania, particularly to fertilizer production.
